As part of a university projectI will be shooting a cosmetics advert and decided to do a practice shoot so as to get some ideas and get a feel for the aesthetic. Here are some shots which I feel pleased with.

20.02.2011 Personal project
After being really inspired by colour I made several portraits which explore the use of coloured lights. My final edit can be found on my website (in link) but here are a few which I also liked. I think this has made me think more about how light falls on a subject and has taught me to be more aware of this.

18.02.2011 cosmetics ideas
For my digital production brief I will need to create a fashion cosmetic advert which is influenced by the research I've carried out. I just recently have been following the New York Fashion Week and have always enjoyed the outrageous designs. I especially enjoyed the collection by Jeremy Scott who’s known as The king of bright colours! Not only where his play on logos and superheroes mixed into the clothing designs excellent but the hair and makeup styling are fantastic and made me realise that I'd like to do bright and fun cosmetics!
The pictures below were taken by Morgan O'Donovan backstage at the show.

17.02.2011 Provocative
While browsing some of my favourite internet sites I came across a rather interesting interview with the photographer Lukas Gansterer on his project named 'Milk'. The Austrian photographer plays with milk (as might be expected because of his title!) in his new exhibition at the Unlike Gallery, Berlin. Known for often using pornographic images in his work I started to ask myself whether you could consider this project 'art' or even creative! To view the article use the link. Although I did not enjoy his work much, I did like the aesthetic which reminded me very much of Terry Richardson’s photographs, the most recent being of Lady Gaga which showed her a little more toned down and in the slightly clinical yet provocative style Richardson has adopted throughout his career.

New York
After a fantastic week in New York I reckon I should post some of the portraits of my fellow travellers and thank them all for making the trip so enjoyable.

03.02.2011 Personal Work
For the recent introduction to Creative Practices I began practicing taking studio portraits. I especially like using the low key lighting set up so took some practice shots to try and gauge some perspective and gain some ideas.
Here is one of my favourite test shots, but more can be seen on my website (link included). I've started to look at the use of low key lighting and fashion styling in fashion advertising and the kinds of magazines which show these kind of images.
