If I could be anywhere else in the world right now I'd be heading to LA where the Los Angeles County Museum of Art will be opening the major Tim Burton retrospective. I love Tim Burton, everything he creates is weird and wonderful and this show will explore Tim Burton's entire creative career, from his films to his illustrations, photographs and writings and is organised by MoMA New York, who hosted the show back in 2009.
The exhibition brings together over 700 drawings, paintings, photographs, moving-image works, storyboards, puppets, concept artworks, maquettes, costumes, and cinematic ephemera, including art from a number of unrealized and little-known personal projects. Hundreds of never-before-exhibited artworks and sketches will be joined by a selection of film posters accompanied by music composed for the exhibition by Burton's longtime collaborator Danny Elfman.
I couldn't tell you what I'd give to go and see this show, Tim Burton is easily at the top of my 'list of people to meet' and in my opinion is a genious who added some magic to my childhood and continues to amaze me still.
