07.12.2011 Tim Burton

Being a huge Tim Burton fan I was delighted to see that the film idea 'Frankenweenie', which Disney turned down in 1984 has been re-made for release next year. After viewing the original short film, Disney declared the short too dark and family unfriendly and resulted in Burton losing his job, yet after Tim Burtons films and style has grown in popularity Disney have done a U-turn and are now fully financing the black and white stop-motion film. When speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the original short fiasco, Burton said:
"I don't know, they got freaked out or something, but they still allowed me to make the film. Even though I was frustrated about the release — or not release of it — it was still a great experience, and did a lot for me, so I couldn’t really complain.
