Live music event Photography: Metaprism 21.08.2015

After such a long break in photography I felt I needed a project, something challenging and fun to capture my interest and work on my technical abilities. After research, I threw myself head first into a local heavy metal event and photographed Metaprism at the Anvil in Bournemouth. The gig was so much fun and picking up a camera again felt soooooooooo good! Something I have learnt about concert photography....it is so hard to make the camera do what you want, when you want and get the shots you want! My work usually centers so much around control, being able to control the subject, the light and overall environment and overall my camera settings! So doing this project has really helped me to let my hair down, the fast moving subjects, lights and overall conditions were so difficult to capture that I really felt I was learning on the go and although I didn't have complete control of my photography, all of the shots were unplanned, spontaneous and I know now how to improve. Above all else I need to update my kit, a faster prime lens and even a full camera upgrade would be a start.....let's hope I win the lottery soon!
