After getting round to finally reading a very old issue of
Umter Magazine I came across the work of Kati Mennett. Kati is infatuated with
the notion that fantasy is constantly a part of our reality and her series 'The
Portrayers' aims to create fantastical characters inspired by real people and
events.
Apart from her annoying website I really like some of Kati
Mennetts work. This series in particular holds some very interesting portraits
which appear real rather than rein acted which I haven’t decided whether that
takes away from her ideas of fantasy in everyday. Either way the
aesthetic of some of these shots and the beautiful use of light and colour has
inspired me a little.
