Photography duo Blommers Schumm
(Anuschka Blommers & Niels Schumm) have just shot a new stripped
back look book for Cos. The photographs almost take the form of a
traditional school portrait with the model's blank expression and the
drab blue backgrounds, but through perfect lighting and clean cut
clothes, they instantly take on a contemporary edge.
Despite negative comments on the HUH. article relating to the lack of experimentation
in this look book I still really like them. I've always been fascinated by
portraiture, especially the everyday uses of it and I love the clean cut style
which has been adopted in this 'school picture day' aesthetic which suits the
type of clothing Cos are selling.
